KENNEWICK, Wash-- Si Choung came to the Tri-Cities 34 years ago fleeing the war in Vietnam. 20 years later he opened one of the first specialty Asian grocery stores in our region called the Golden Dragon and now his business is expanding.
"I don't have a lot of space here for a lot of products. That's why I'm expanding," said Choung.
With his own hands he's building another addition to the store, which is located on Clearwater in Kennewick. The expansion will cost about $60,000.
Once a week Choung travels to Seattle to get fresh Asian fruits and vegetables.
"I specialize in Thai, Vietnamese, and Cambodian, a little Japanese and Korean," said Choung.
Choung says it's really hard to run a business in Vietnam because of the communist government and believes some of his success comes from the freedoms we have here in America.
