Washington State Patrol Troopers Train on Driving Simulator
KENNEWICK, Wash - For the first time, Washington State Patrol Troopers can stay in Washington while using a special driving simulator to keep up on their driving skills.
Every other year, troopers are required to take a refresher course in driving to make sure they can handle a variety of road situations.
"Different weather conditions, daytime, night time and freeway environment, city street environments...making sure people are driving the speed limits, throwing out all sorts of hazards to make sure troopers are going to react appropriately to all these hazards." Explains Lieutenant Jay Cabezuela.
Close to 700 Washington State Troopers used to have to travel to Shelton to train in the simulator.
