Kennewick, Wa - The Benton Public Utility District's string of rate cuts is coming to an end.
PUD spokeswoman Karen Miller says rising wholesale prices for hydro-electric power, wind energy and other renewable energy sources will lead to a rate increase.
"We're doing everything we can to mitigate the raise in power costs, but we're looking at a rate increase in the next year or so."
Miller says the PUD hasn't determined yet how much the rate increase will be.
The PUD has had five consecutive rate decreases.
