UMATILLA, - Ore. People got a rare and up close look today... At two tall ships on their way up the Columbia River to Pasco.
The Lady Washington is a full scale reproduction of the original built in the 1750's... And is the official ship of the state of Washington.
The Hawaiian Chieftain is a replica of a typical European merchant trader ship from the turn of the nineteenth century.
Both ships passed through the McNary Dam locks. Even people from Walla Walla came out to take a look. "We decided ...Hey we're off today...why don't we come out and see it...they're incredible!" Says Walla Walla resident Myron Huie.
The tall ships were scheduled to arrive in Pasco at Cascade Marina around 2:30 this afternoon.
You can buy tickets to board the ships for sunset and moon light sails.
