Kennewick, Wa- With families on the go, good eating habits may get left behind.
How to make good choices is the lesson at Cascade Elementary School.
Today the children listened to experts in nutrition, agriculture, and exercise on how to live a healthy lifestyle.
The kids also got to graze at the A-to-Z Salad Bar, featuring fruits and vegetables from apples to zucchini.
Director of Nutrition Services at Kennewick Schools Sam Shick says when kids are offered more choices, they're more likely to make the right choices. "There's too many places where kids can make bad decisions about nutrition, and it's not just up to schools. It's got to happen at home, too."
Shick says what the kids learn today they'll take with them to adulthood, and hopefully pass along to their children.
