YAKIMA, Wash-- Even elementary school kids are hitting the track for this year's Relay for Life. Students at Roosevelt Elementary school walked a "mini-relay" Friday afternoon.
Money raised at the event is being donated to the American Cancer Society. So far they've raised around $500. For many students raising this money is personal.
"To help my uncle cause he has cancer. And my aunt already died from cancer and I don't want anyone else in my family to die," said Alex Roman, 2nd grader.Alex has been washing windows to raise money for this fundraiser. His mom matches every dollar he makes.
Relay for Life will take place May 30th and 31st at Zaepfel Stadium, it's expected to raise around $200,000 for ACS, according to organizers.
