KENNEWICK, Wash-- The Kennewick Police Department wants to crack down on noisy cars. Throughout the next month they will be doing a traffic emphasis on loud stereos and modified car exhausts.
Stereos that are too loud are one's where music can be heard from the car more than 50 feet away. Police say they are doing the emphasis from four secret locations where there have been a lot of complaints.
"You know if they are out somewhere and they are trying to enjoy themselves and you have a loud stereo go by and you can hear the words that aren't very nice, foul language in the music, the real loud base, it's just something that intrudes in people's lives," said Ofc. Jim Valdez, Kennewick Police Department.
Noise violators in the City of Kennewick could be fined up to $350.
