Take 25 Event in Kennewick To Raise Awareness About Child Safety
KENEWICK, Wash.-- National Missing Children's Day is also celebrated on May 25th.
Many took the time to learn more about child safety at the Take 25 event in Columbia Park. Kennewick police officers were there to encourage parents to take 25 minutes out of their day to teach their kids more about safety.
Many parents also had fingerprints taken for their kids for free.
"My dad was in law enforcement and he always had us finger printed because your finger prints never change and it's something that it's in the database so they can have a positive identity of your child," said Michelle Guilliam, a parent.
The fingerprints are kept by police and useful in case of an emergency. Numbers from the National Crime Information Center show Washington ranks 13th in the nation for missing children.
