Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland Lined With Flags to Honor Heroes
RICHLAND, Wash.-- Sunset Memorial Gardens really lived up to it's name Monday night. The Richland cemetery was lined with 1,000 flags, and the graves of veterans were also decorated with the stars and stripes.
Hundreds of people visited the gardens, paying their respects to fallen heroes. The "Avenue of Flags" is an annual tradition, and Susan Wolfe, of Richland, has also made it tradition to go there. She says this year has special meaning for her. Wolfe explains, "I come out every year on my bike, usually in the evening, just to see the flags each year. This year, specifically, meant more because I lost my mom and dad this year. My dad did service in the military."
There was also memorial service at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Monday morning.
