Seniors Helping All Kids Education (S.H.A.K.E) Organizes School Supply Collection

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash - Seniors  met today at the Volunteer Center in Kennewick to organize efforts for this summer's collection of school supplies.

"Seniors helping all kids education" is a group otherwise known as S.H.A.K.E

In July and August, containers will be placed at businesses around the Tri-Cities so that people can leave new and gently used school supplies for fall students.

"It puts a smile on their face when they can go to the counselors office at school and collect brand new or gently used items and just feel like they're part of the team and part of the school. It's just encouraging and makes everyone feel good from the seniors to the youth." Explains LouAnn Hug of the Volunteer Center.

Starting in July, people can leave school supplies in new and useable condition in containers.

Backpacks and even knitted caps, scarves and mittens are also welcome.
