YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Naches Valley Rangers last won a state championship in 1991. But this was their year to finish on top.

Thomas Wilcox got Matt Pollock to ground out to end it! The Rangers got the 8-6 win over Kalama and are the 2009 1A State Champions.

After finishing second in state in 2007 and 4th last year, the Rangers were glad to finish on top.

"It feels great especially because we haven't been able to get it done the last 2 years," says Naches Pitcher Adam Ranger. "It just feels good to go out and get it our senior year.

"It took 4 years, not being quite able to grasp it," says Outfielder Joe Mills. "We finally have it. It's awesome, it's awesome."
