SELAH, Wash. -- A number of local teams also came out on the losing end of state championship games on Saturday.
Lindsey Dawson's 3-run homer for Burlington-Edison spelled doom for the Ellensburg Bulldogs, who ended up losing 5 to 1 and finishing 2nd in state.
But 2nd place, still quite an accomplishment for the Bulldogs, who had never placed in state in fastpitch before.
"I can't be more proud of a group of girls than I am of these girls," says Bulldogs Head Coach Dave Kopczynski. "They battled, there's no give up in them. They faced a tough team. They finished 2nd in state to Othello last year, so hands down to them, they are a good team."
"Well, it would be nice to be 1st but to get 2nd out of all those teams is pretty good," says Pitcher Sarah McNamee. "I can live with that."
