Direct Deposit for Unemployment Benefits

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. -- If you're currently laid off and accepting unemployment benefits, representatives with the Washington State Employment Security Department say consider direct deposits.

They say it offers security and it's free. There are about 40 percent of unemployment claims paid through direct deposit. Which is up 20 percent from a year ago.

For information or to sign up, go the department's website at www.esd.wa.gov and type "direct deposit" in the search box.
