KENNEWICK, Wash-- A motor home is destroyed and a garage is heavily damaged on East 247 Private Road Southeast in Kennewick after it caught on fire.
The fire captain from Benton County District 1 says it's too early to tell what started the fire. The two alarm blaze didn't take long to put out, but the extreme heat made the firefighters' jobs only harder.
"Typically on a hot summer day like this, if you could get 20 minutes or so out of your first crew, that's pretty good," explains Captain Jeff Ripley. "You need to be out and rehabbing, getting some water, re-hydrating."
The homeowner says the family has insurance and the home didn't appear to have any visible damage. Captain Ripley says it's lucky this fire wasn't worse.
