12 Girls Graduate from a Yakima Program they Say Changed Their Lives
YAKIMA, Wash.- Twelve girls celebrated their graduation from a program called manners matter Wednesday night.
Middle school girls in Yakima are taught how to eat properly, introduce themselves formally, and speak in public. The 11-week program aims to help girls learn self-respect and improve their self-esteem.
"At the beginning I looked down on myself I was kind of a negative Nelly, now I'm more positive, I see things how they are," said Manners Matter graduate Kaylor Fullerton.
The girls also received free dresses and heels from the Junior League of Yakima. This program has been going on for 7 years and coordinators say they're already planning for next year.
