YAKIMA--A backyard fire breaks out at a Yakima home, but crews catch it before it even had the chance to spread.
It happened on the 3400 block of Castlevale Boulevard around 10:45 a.m. Sunday.
Firefighters say the fire was just starting to burn underneath a pickup truck when they arrived.
Crews kept this one from getting ugly, but firefighter Rocky Willette said small fires can get out of control quickly in our climate.
"Trim those weeds [in your yard] down short," Wilette said. "If you have a lot of debris stacked up behind your buildings or stuff like that, clean it up. If you do get a fire back there, [it will] do a lot less damage."
Willette wasn't sure what started the blaze.
But, fires like this pop up regularly this time of year, so everyone should be ready.
