TIETON-- Stormclouds threatened Tieton's fourth annual Flag Day Celebration, but people still filled the Tieton City Square to honor Old Glory and those who've served her.
After Taps and a 21-gun salute, speakers, including 14th district Representative Charles Ross, honored past and current veterans from the Tieton area.
This year they had close to 450 names to read. Among those honored, former Tieton mayor and World War II vet James Parsley.
Ross served in the U.S. Navy during the Persian Gulf War.
He talked about how important this day is and what it means are to our country.
"America, my friends is a great country," Ross said. "No small measure of its greatness is due to the large sacrifices of its veterans."
About one hundred people showed up for Sunday's event.
Sunday actually kicks off National Flag Week.
President Obama has ordered flags to fly from all federal buildings.
He urges all Americans to proudly display their Stars and Stripes this week.
