Two People Hospitalized in Motorcycle Accident

Posted: Updated:

WENAS, Wash. -- Washington State troopers are investigating a high-speed motorcycle accident  in the Wenas area. The injuries may be worse because their bike helmets were stolen.

Two people are recovering from major injuries after they were thrown off a motorcycle.

Troopers said it happened last night on North Wenas Rd. Ethen Hughes and Melissa Jeffery were taken to Yakima Regional Hospital. Melissa was later flown to Harborview in Seattle, listed in satisfactory condition.

KNDO spoke to Ethen's parents after his three hour surgery today. The parents said the pair were not wearing helmets because someone had driven by their bikes, and stole their helmets and jacket.

The parents also added, there was no cell phone signal where they were at, and that's why they left in a hurry, to go get help.

State Patrol said they will continue to investigate this accident.
