Boise, ID -- Jeremiah Sammy rolled a two-run single up the middle with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth inning, helping the Tri-City Dust Devils rally from a four-run deficit to stop the Boise Hawks, 12-7, before 2,618 fans at rainy Memorial Stadium.
Boise used a five-run third inning to build a 5-1 lead, and held a 5-3 edge heading into the eighth - but Scott Beerer scored on a wild pitch and Shane Lowe drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game. Sammy followed, squirting the ball through the middle to give the Dust Devils the lead for good.
Robert Hernandez was solid in his first Hawks start, going five innings, allowing just one run on four hits with four strikeouts, however, the Boise bullpen allowed 11 runs for the second straight night.
Cliff Anderson and George Matheus each had three hits for the Hawks, with Anderson delivering a two-run single in the third inning. Beerer and Bo Bowman each had three hits for Tri-City.
Game 3 of the series is Monday night, with Su-Min Jung making his professional debut for the Hawks against right-hander Brad McAtee.
