Memorial Hospital Now has Open Door Policy for Critical Care Patients
YAKIMA, Wash.- Starting Monday Memorial Hospital's Critical Care Unit will have an open door policy. Before, family visiting patients would have to buzz in and wait for a nurse to let them in.
Now, the doors will remain unlocked 24 hours everyday. Family members say this is already making a big difference.
"We're more comfortable coming in and out whenever we want to. Some of us like to be around all the time to make sure everything is going right," said Anita Rodriguez, a family member of a patient at Memorial.
Families say they're now interacting more with doctors and have a better understanding of what condition the patients are in.
