Brush Fire Continues to Blaze in Tampico, Cause Unknown
TAMPICO, Wash. - A few homes were evacuated Wednesday when a brush fire broke out in the Tampico area.
The fire started just after 3 p.m. off South Fork Road. Smoke filled the sky for hours as firefighters tried to put out flames. A helicopter was called in to help contain the flames. Over 40 firefighters from different agencies in Yakima County responded. The fire blazed over 15 acres of land. One neighbor said he was home when it started.
"I just came outside and saw it, I was worried my grass would catch on fire and smoke fore a long time," said Dave Osborn.
Firefighters closed off some of the roads to reduce traffic in the area. They are still investigating the cause.
