KENNEWICK, Wash-- It's been over a week since the new roundabouts debuted on Columbia Drive and Highway 395, and some drivers have been driving in circles, confused and frustrated.
We met with Washington State Patrol to highlight the common mistakes drivers are making. Number one-- WSP says they're not paying attention. For example, they saw one driver going the wrong way, other drivers using up two lanes instead of one. That's why the best advice may also be the most obvious.
"Slow down," advises trooper Bryan Ball with Washington State Patrol. "It doesn't hurt to do 15-20 miles per hour through it. Do it safely. And don't try to multi-task--leave the phone alone."
Trooper Ball also says it may be confusing because one roundabout leads to another. But with time and practice, he hopes they make your commute easier.
