WHITE SWAN--Crews still on the scene in White Swan after a brush fire this afternoon blackens miles of land. A truck was caught in the middle of the blaze. The wooden bridge it was on also burned.
Firefighters responded to calls of a brush fire on Signal Peak Road around 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
High winds helped spread the fire to dead sagebrush and also destroyed several small buildings.
Crews got it contained around 6:30 p.m., but they'll still be there for a while.
"There's going to be people on this fire for a couple of days," Capt. Dave Martin, Yakima County Fire District 5, said. "We'll be out here fairly late tonight. The fire is contained but by no means controlled at this point."
