KENNEWICK, Wash - The newly built public restrooms in downtown Kennewick are now up and running.
After nearly nine months of construction shoppers will have the centrally located facilities available between the hours of 8am-6pm Monday through Saturday.
Fear of vandalism will keep the bathrooms closed at night and on Sunday.
"There's always the ten percent ya know that want to mess up a really good thing...that forces us to lock these...I mean we'd love to have them open all the time." Says Tim Dalton with Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership.
Dalton says the restrooms were built to make things more convenient for shoppers as well as for people attending promotions in the downtown area.
And business owners with limited space and no public bathrooms, will no longer have to turn patrons away.
