House Fire Burns Home, Several RVs

YAKIMA, Wash. - A house on the 700 block of N. 20th Ave. went up in flames just before midnight on Monday burning not only the home but also several RVs behind it.

Tom Sevigny was the battalion chief for the Yakima Fire Department who was on the scene of the fire.

"We did have down power lines," he said.  "Which really created a hazard for our firefighters and delayed us getting in and putting out the fire. "

Crews had to wait until PP&L Power could turn off the power to those downed lines.

The fire killed a couple of the residents' cats, no one else was injured.

The house is a total loss and the Red Cross is helping the homeowners.  There is no word on the cause of the fire.
