SUNNYSIDE--A Sunnyside teen is invited to try out for the U.S. Army All-American football team. Now, he just needs the money to get there.
Lorenzo Carbajal impressed former NFL players and coaches so much at a camp in Seattle that they invited him to the elite Top Gun tryouts later this month in Florida.
But, the tryouts carry a $600 registration fee, plus travel expenses.
Saturday he held a yard sale to raise money. He's confident he has what it takes.
"I just think about my past, what I've done in my past, all the championships I've gotten," Carbajal said. "That just gets me pumped up right there."
If chosen, Carbajal would play in the Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
If you're interested in helping out Carbajal, his grandfather and coach Max Saldana is taking donations. You can reach him at 509-391-0911, or go to www.sunnysidegrizzlies.com.
His family has also set up an account at HAPO Credit Union in Sunnyside. Just say you want to donate to the account for the benefit of Lorenzo Carbajal.
