4th Annual Cardboard Boat Races in Kennewick

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.--  Saturday was the 4th annual Cardboard Boat races in Columbia Park.  It was near the Lampson Pits in Kennewick and was put on by Tri-Cities Crimestoppers.

18 boats were built entirely out of cardboard and, believe it or not, they actually floated!  There were two race winners, the Kellie Jean, which took home the gold for the adult category.  For the kids, it was the Mystery Machine.  Three brothers and two cousins were on the Mystery Machine and they say their strategy was to "focus," "go straight," and "stay together."

All the money raised from the race will go to Crimestoppers.
