Sales Of Michael Jackson Memorabilia Still Up at Kennewick Store
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Ever since news of Michael Jackson's death, sales of his music are way up.
The CD shelves at the Hastings in Kennewick were empty where Michael Jackson's once were. That's even after ordering a second large shipment of them. Now people are also buying collector's editions of magazines about Jackson's life. Assistant manager Todd Tappin says those are also flying off the shelves.
Tappin has also been surprised by the variety of people who have been buying Jackson memoribilia. He explains, "You think it would be the people that grew up in the MTV era, but actually, we've seen younger kids, maybe people that weren't especially interested in his music. Now, they're taking an interest in his music and what a superstar he was. I'm seeing a different age group taking notice of Michael Jackson."
According to billboard.com, three of Michael Jackson's albums are the top ten best sellers of the week. They took the number one, two, and three spots. Billie Jean is also the number one most down-loaded ring tone.
Hastings staff expects a new shipment of Jackson CDs later this week.
