WALLULA- The combination of high winds and lighting sparked a brush fire that burned 125 acres.
It happened Sunday evening around 7p.m. off highway 12. Which is about one-mile east of Wallula Junction. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph were reported which helped the flames spread much faster than usual.
The steep terrain was also very dry despite rain around the area. Officials say the fire burned steady for about five hours. It's the first fire caused by lighting so far this year in Walla Walla County.
