Benton City Water Shortage

Posted: Updated:

Benton City- A water shortage in Benton City is forcing people to stop all irrigation and limit unnecessary household use in an effort to conserve water. Taking a shower, watering your lawn or garden, cooking and even cleaning is difficult if you live in Benton City. Because the city's water supply is quickly drying up.

Mayor Lloyd Carnahan says he doesn't know what the problem is. He said the pump to the main well simply quit pumping water. He says the city is working diligently to fix the problem.   "We are going to pull the pump tomorrow morning and take a picture of the casings and go from there," he said.

In the meantime water is currently being used from the city's reserve supply to keep some water flowing. The mayor is urging people to use water only when necessary. A camera is expected to be lowered into the well sometime tomorrow in hopes of pin pointing the exact cause.

In Benton City, don't water your lawn, shorten up showers and conserve as much water as possible.
