Construction Companies Agree to Control Dust on Blue Bridge

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The Department of Transportation and their contracted construction company, KLB, have agreed to limit the spread of dust on the Blue Bridge construction site.

High winds on Sunday blew extensive dust into a nearby trailer park, promting the Benton Clean Air Authority to issue a formal citation. In response to the warning, KLB will now continuous monitor the ground at the site and spray water and lay soil sealant every day. Before this change, KLB would only treat the ground on the four days they worked during the week.

The DOT stressed today the conditions the Clover Leaf trailer park saw the past few days will never happen again. But neighbors aren't convinced.

"The way I feel about it, I don't think that their word is gonna stand up until I see them do it out there on the hill to stop the dust from blowing." said resident Charles Moore.

KLB Construction Inc. was unavailable for comment.
