RICHLAND, Wash.-- The city of Richland is getting high marks. CNNmoney.com ranked it as number 51 of the top 100 best places to live in the country.
The rankings are based on jobs, education, affordable homes, and low crime rates. CNN Money says since the turn of the century, jobs in Richland have gone up nearly 19% and the average family brings in just under $85,000. Schools have high test scores, and there's a four year university within city limits.
Richland Mayor John Fox also boasts about everything to do outdoors. He says, "We've got several golf courses in the city and several more in the metropolitan area, boating, waterskiing, wake-boarding, you can rent jet skis."
Fox grew up in Richland and says it's changed a lot, but he's not surprised it made the list. He says Hanford plays a large role in its success.
Other Washington cities in the top 100 include Mukilteo, Sammamish, Newcastle, and Silverdale. Louisville, Colorado is number one.
