Drive-By Shooting Interrupts Outlook Family's Cookout

Posted: Updated:

OUTLOOK--A family cookout was broken up by a drive-by shooting.

It happened around 6:30 Sunday night on Second Avenue.

Sheriff's deputies say a white Chevy Blazer pulled up outside the house and a Hispanic male got out, then fired several shots.

He only hit one person, who deputies say was just an innocent bystander.

"Apparently, the people that live here, from what we can gather don't really have anything to do with it at all," Sgt. Bill Splawn, Yakima County Sheriff's Office, said.  "There's no gang involvements with either home.  Some of the people that were here, that's another story."

One of the guests at the cookout chased the suspect's vehicle in his car, but didn't get a license plate number.  Splawn said he may be a gang member.

The bullet only grazed the victim's head. It's not believed to be a life-threatening injury.
