YAKIMA, Wash. - Brad Gemberling pitched well enough for the win - five innings of one-run ball - but the Vancouver Canadians (12-18) scored five times in the game's final four frames to beat the Yakima Bears (10-20) 6-4 at County Stadium Monday night.
The Bears led 3-1 heading to the sixth inning but the bullpen couldn't preserve the lead as Vancouver methodically placed five of the game's next six runs on the scoreboard - utilizing two leadoff doubles and three sacrifice bunts - to earn the victory.
Clayton Conner continues to swing it well, going for 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI in the loss.
Bo Schultz (2-2) tossed two scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win. Ben Dollar (0-1) allowed two runs on three hits in 1 2/3 innings to take the loss. Paul Smyth finished the game's final 1 1/3 innings to notch his second save of the season.
Connor Crumbliss went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored to lead the way offensively for the Canadians.
The two squads will be back at it Tuesday night at 7:05 for game four of the five-game series. Rafael Quezada (0-3, 9.13 ERA) takes the mound for Yakima against Joselito Adames (1-2, 3.86 ERA) for Vancouver.
