Villwock the man to beat at Columbia Cup

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Steve David in the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto has gotta feel like Rodney Dangerfield sometimes...he gets no respect around here!

David won the Columbia Cup last year, and also won the national points championship, but still doesn't stack up to Dave Villwock. That's according to fellow driver Jeff Bernard.

"Unless he makes a bad start, it's gonna be tough for anyone to beat him in a final heat," said Bernard. "Those guys are on top of their game. They got lots of equipment and one of the best motor builders building their stuff. They are the Budweiser team of this era. I'd be surprised to see someone beat them unless he has a problem in the final or he screws up making a start or something, and Dave usually doesn't mess up when it comes to a final heat."

Steve David's response? "Let them think what they want, and we'll prove them wrong."
Villwock has won both of the races so far this season and has won four of the last five Columbia Cups.
