City of Richland Park and Recreation Department reminds dog owners to pick up
RICHLAND, Wash - There is a lot happening in the parks during the summer months. And no one wants to step into a sticky situation.
In a continuing campaign, the City of Richland's Parks and Recreation Department is reminding dog owners to pick up after their dog.
Park Rangers say, fecal matter can contaminate river shores and ground water. And can be unhealthy for kids who play there.
"We ask them to grab it, bag it and toss it in the trash. Easy as that. Three simple steps. If they can do that, it would be great to just help keep our parks clean and enviromentally safe." Says Park Ranger Jen Wheeler.
"Ya know, it's not my favorite thing to do but it is common courtesy to pick up after your dog." Agrees Dog Owner Dave Kasper.
If you forget to bring a bag, the Kiwanis Club of Richland has donated some plastic bag dispensers. They are located in various areas near the trails.
