ZILLAH--Homes at Zillah Lakes aren't selling as fast as realtors originally hoped, but there are signs business will soon pick up.
Builders aimed to bring more potential owners to the growing gated community by dedicating their new sign and a walking trail Saturday.
So far, they've sold about 20 homes. Realtors have came up with different ways to entice buyers, like building some homes that are eligible for first-time home buyer credits.
"Been starting to get some showings so my feeling is the market's starting to improve a little bit," Steve Strosahl, United Builders, said. "As it happens the lower part of [the market] starts first and then it gradually loosens up."
Strosahl said they've increased advertising in Western Washington to try to sell homes.
About 30 of the 80 homes planned for Phase One of Zillah Lakes have been built.
