KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Port and the City of Kennewick have some big plans for land near Clover Island.
The Columbia Drive Revitalization Plan was prepared by ARCULUS Design and Technical Services in Kennewick.
ARCULUS representatives made a presentation of the plan to commissioners of the Port of Kennewick Tuesday.
The plan is to revitalize the area known as Duffy's Pond, Catfish Island and the land along Columbia Drive.
The design calls for an Imax theater, an ice skating rink, retailers, and even a gondola among other things.
The engineer of the project,Stanley Jones, says this will help bring in some fun as well as more revenue.
"It will have the advantage of being a revenue generating area. For example, the Imax theater will be revenue generated, the amphitheater will be revenue generated," said Stanley Jones with ARCULUS.
The ports Executive Director Tim Artzen did say before the presentation that much of this could be over the top. Meaning they'll have to pick and choose what they want, and see what they can afford.
