KID Customers Can Use City of Kennewick Water, Must Follow Guidelines

KENNEWICK, Wash.--  Many home and land owners have been left without water after this week's canal leak.  Some Kennewick Irrigation District customers have the option to use the city of Kennewick's water.

However, there are some concerns with doing that, including draining their supply or contaminating it.

KID customers who are temporarily switching to city water, should use it on certain days.  If you have an even numbered address, water your lawn on even days.  If it's odd, water on odd number days.

The other major concern with irrigation customers using city water is cross-contaminating the lines.  There are serious health risks if you plug your irrigation line directly into the city's line.  It is actually against state and local ordinances to connect a city line directly into an irrigation line.
