65,000 Primary Ballots Mailed in Benton County

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- About 65,000 ballots were mailed Wednesday morning for the upcoming primary elections in Benton County.

Workers at the auditors office said some people will receive a ballot as soon as Thursday. Not all districts within Benton County have a primary, so you may not receive on at all. Officials in the auditor's office said they expect about a 25-30% voter turnout for the primaries.

"This is a primary election so generally the turnout is a little bit lower", said Brend Chilton, Chief Deputy Officer in the auditor's office. "There's generally not quite as much interest as there is in a general election".

You can mail your ballot or drop it off at one of three "voting centers" in Benton County:

- Prosser Courthouse - 620 Market St.

- 5600 W. Canal Pl, Kennewick

- 101 Welssian Way Suite E, Richland

Ballots must be postmarked or dropped off by 8 p.m. on August 18th.
