Kennewick, WA -- A woman charged with murder arrived in Benton County Court today in a wheelchair.
Phien Sisouvahn is accused of killing a pregnant woman in Columbia Park and cutting the woman's unborn baby from her womb.
When we asked why Sisouvahn was in the wheelchair, defense attorney Daniel Arnold cited attorney-client confidentiality. Arnold says Sisouvahn is walking around in jail, but he says the wheelchair makes it easier for Sisouvahn to get from the jail to the courtroom.
Sisouvahn's erratic behavior in jail and the state mental hospital will be the focus of a hearing in September when the judge will consider unsealing certain court records.
At the request of the defense attorney, the judge today also pushed back the trial, now scheduled to begin in the last week of October.
