YAKIMA, Wash. -- Thousands of gallons spill out onto roadway and into nearby homes after a broken water main at East H Street and North Front Street on Friday night.
Firefighters with the Yakima Fire Department and City of Yakima water crews were working to get control of a large water main break that happened around 5pm.
Water flooded into the basements of at least three homes this afternoon.
Firefighters worked to divert the stream of water to a nearby canal.
"We can go there, we can try and salvage some property. Try to stop the water, by either shutting down the valves if we can do that. And, we'll contact the Water Department where they can get in, and shut down the main valve," said Lt. Alex Langbell, Yakima Fire Dept.
Yakima Fire Dept. will continue to investigate today's water main break.
