Teen dead, driver arrested after crash in Olympia

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - One young man died and another has been arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide following a crash in Olympia.

A sport utility vehicle went off the road (Mountain Aire Drive), hit a retaining wall and overturned early Sunday. Trooper Guy Gill of the Washington State Patrol says investigators found evidence that speed and alcohol were involved.

The front seat passenger, 18-year-old Silas Turner of Olympia, died in the crash, an 18-year-old passenger in the back seat was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries and the third passenger escaped injury.

Gill says the driver, 18-yer-old Emil Swartling, has been jailed for investigation of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
