KENNEWICK, Wash.-- There's now a place for pets of people staying at domestic violence shelters in the Tri-Cities.
The Tri-Cities Elks Club paid for their construction last month after learning that animals are often left behind when victims leave their abusers.
Domestic violence services says victims have been extremely relieved to know their pets would be safe as well.
Domestic violence services also says pets left behind by victims are at risk for abuse.
This is the forth kennel of its kind in the state of washington. Ranch and Home, Beaver Bark, Curb Creations, Trinidad and Sons, Ideal Sod, and Built on the Rock all helped in the construction of the kennels.
