Dealers Running out of New Cars for Cash For Clunkers
PASCO, Wash.-- Dealerships and car manufacters have been caught off guard by the immense popularity of the Cash for Clunkers program. Now inventories are running out, new cars being replaced on the front lot with their older, clunkier counterparts; and salvage yards are waiting for the clunkers to come.
The US senate is still debating whether or not to approve an extra two billion dollars for the cash for clunkers program; if they don't, this will be the last week to take advantage. Dealerships expect to kill engines and ship them off to the salvage yard within the next couple of weeks.
