YAKIMA, Wash.- Yakima City Council members are trying to come up with better ways to tackle crime. Sonia Rodriguez brought this issue up at Tuesday's city council meeting.
She suggested getting more officers to patrol the area. Rodriguez says the recent shootings are alarming and thinks more needs to be done sooner rather than later.
"It seems like there is a shooting or two gang-related everyday and this to me indicates we're in a crisis," said Councilwoman Rodriguez.
Council members agree crime and gang activity are a top priority right now. Council members will be studying this in their committee meetings. They're talking to Police Chief Sam Granato and plan to discuss some ideas at the next meeting.
