KENNEWICK, Wash. - Hundreds of summer readers gathered today at the Kennewick library. The children celebrated the end of the Summer Reading Program. The celebration offered food, games, crafts, music and prizes donated by the community.
Four of those lucky readers even had the chance to win a brand new bycycle donated by the Masonic Lodge.
Children's librarian, Charity Cree, said, "It's beneficial because it keeps them reading over the summer. A lot of times once they get done with school they don't think about reading and they have to catch up when they go back in fall."
The next Summer Reading Program party will be this Tuesday at Keewaydin Park library.
