KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Juneau, Alaska takes down the Yakima Junior Little League All-Stars 8 to 6. They take on Santa Clara, Utah Saturday at 4.
At the Babe Ruth Regional, the Kennewick All-Stars are champs. We caught up with the 13-year-olds Friday just after they returned with their hardware. Some had driven all night to get home from Bozeman, Montana.
This is the 4th Kennewick team this decade to win the regional title. The team heads to Utah for the World Series which starts August 22nd.
"Awesome! We played hard," said First Baseman Hayden Burris. "We got it done, played great defense. We just kept going with it."
"It was exciting and I was pretty happy about it," said Kennewick Centerfielder Nathan Kasselder. "It was the first time I ever get to go to the World Series."
"Oh, we were so excited," said rightfielder Michael Hosfield. "We were jumping on Clayton because he had the base hit. "
"As 10-year-olds we were third, as 12-year-olds we were second, so hopefully as 13-year-olds we can bring a title home to Kennewick," said Head Coach Lenny Ayres.
