Tri-City shutout again

Posted: Updated:
PASCO, Wash. - The Tri-City Dust Devils were shut out for the second straight night, losing to the Spokane Indians, 2-0, Monday night at Gesa Stadium.  Tri-City hasn't scored in 22 innings.

Spokane pitching was the story again tonight as two Indians pitchers combined to shut out the Dust Devils' offense for the second night in a row.  Starter Ben Hurley (3-2) threw six innings of shutout ball allowing only one hit while striking out five.  Geuris Grullon held the Dust Devils at bay over the last three innings to pick up his second save of the year.

Tri-City starter Rob Scahill (0-3) took the loss despite pitching a solid five innings, allowing only one run (unearned) on three hits and striking out six.

With the loss the Dust Devils' lead in the Northwest League Eastern Division shrinks to six games over the second place Indians.

Tri-City will travel to Yakima on Tuesday to begin a three game series with the Bears and then will head north of the border to battle the Vancouver Canadians in a five game set.

The Dust Devils will return home on Thursday, August 20 to face the Spokane Indians again on Baseball Card Giveaway Night sponsored by US Cellular.  The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a team set of the 2009 Dust Devils.
