Complaints about access to Facebook pictures in advertisements
The Better Business Bureau is getting complaints that photos posted on Facebook are being used in advertisements.
Bureau representatives say third-party advertisers can access your pictures if you don't take certain precautions. They say when it comes to social networking sites, you should review the terms and conditions before signing up.
Norma Miller with the BBB says, "you do want to check their privacy act or their privacy statement. Are they going to use it? How are they going to use it? Is it just for the people you select?"
You can better protect yourself by changing the settings on your Facebook account by following these steps:
Click on "settings" at the top of the homepage
Select "privacy settings"
Then "newsfeeds and wall"
After that, click the "facebook ads" tab
Select "no one" in the drop down box and save your changes.
